About this place
In a residential part of Takaramachi, Katsushika, 亜呂摩喫茶部 draws many visitors for its signature dish: coffee ramen. The bowl pairs coffee-infused noodles with a coffee-flavoured broth, topped with vanilla ice cream, banana, salami and smoked egg. It makes a strong impression at first sight. It is available as a hot ramen or in a chilled, ice-cream-style version, which can also be tried as a cool noodle dish on a hot day.
The broth has a pronounced saltiness and savoury depth. Alongside the gentle bitterness of roasted coffee, these qualities create an original flavour. As the vanilla ice cream topping slowly melts into the broth, it brings a sweet-and-salty note and a creamy change reminiscent of a café latte. The menu also offers other ways to enjoy the coffee noodles, including a style reminiscent of zaru soba, served with men-tsuyu dipping sauce and condiments, as well as a coffee-noodle salad.
Alongside these distinctive noodle dishes, the café serves a generous range of meals and sweets in the style of a traditional Japanese coffee shop. Familiar favourites include yakiniku and pork cutlet set meals, Napolitan spaghetti and pilaf, as well as toast, sandwiches and a variety of floats. The friendly owner offers guidance on how to eat the dishes, adding to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Whether stopping in for an unusual signature dish or a quiet meal alone, visitors can settle in without ceremony.
